INTRO
DOES ANYONE RECOGNIZE THIS GLOVE?
It was found on the bench at C2 after the early game. Presuming it belongs to one the Red Dogs players. Let me know, I have it. It was last seen having a beer with the Dislocated Joints. I did rescue it and have entered it in rehab. DRAFT KEG DRAW
Yep....that's going to happen soon. I think Saturday but not sure. Every team gets one entry in the drum for each jug purchased in your team's name. The more entries the more opportunity to win; although we know it rarely works out that way. Here are the final tallies from this year.
GAMES:
Red Dogs (14) Vs. Dislocated Joints (2): Those poor Red Dogs. They played well enough to barely lose two games now. They never led in this one but kept themselves in striking range an ended up dropping this one 18-14. The Dislocated Joints have now moved to 2-0 and are a win away from the quarters.
Player of the game: Kevin Moon. 4-4 with three runs scored and at least 3 RBI based on what I can glean from the score sheet. Kevin is on an 8/9 tear to start the playoffs.
Next up for the Red Dogs (14) 0-2, Gruesome Devils (5) 1-0
Next up for the Dislocated Joints (2), Dodge City Rounders (8) 1-0
Hurtin' Units (13) Vs. Tap Masters (9): I left this game to head over to Coventry with the Tap Masters batting in the bottom of the fourth and trailing 9-1. Apparently I was bad luck because they scored 19 runs from that point forward to come all the way back and win the game 19-15. In what has become a very familiar refrain in these playoff, the underdog got up early and then couldn't close the deal. The Units were led by home runs by Glecoff and Chiasson.
Player of the game: Neil Pendlebury. 3/4 with 3 runs scored. Kind of a ho-hum night for Neil. Two doubles and a homer. Nice work Neil!
Next up for the Hurtin' Units (13) 0-1, Brew Jays (3) 0-1
Next up for the Tap Masters (9), Blue Brothers (10) 2-0
Grisslies (15) Vs. Draft Kings (1): Did I mention I was bad luck? Wow. This was over faster than a Maple Leafs playoff run. The final score of 22-5 was somewhat flattering. I'll thank the Draft Kings for not piling on. Their attack was executed perfectly. Nothing was as expected and people hit against their trends deftly. When we adjusted they did too. The were balanced with all 12 players scoring and only three of them ending up only getting a single run. The Grisslies only scored in two their 7 innings but are convinced that they are now warmed up for a Saturday run. Make the final 22-5.
Player of the game: This was a close call. I could have gone with Routledge again but I should spread the wealth. Actually I'm naming Stike for this one. He and Dan had the same numbers at the plate going 4/4 with 2 runs scored. Stike also played great defense being in on multiple double plays and taking away all opportunities for hits to the right side. Great game Stike!
Next up for the Grisslies (15) 0-2, Hot Tub Woody's (5) 1-0
Next up for the Draft Kings (1), Hot Tub Woody's (5) 1-0
Blues Brothers (10) Vs. Dog Catchers (4): Anyone see this coming? Oh, yeah, I had the Blues Brother winning this pool The Dog Catchers and their vaunted offense could only must 7 runs against the stingy Blues Brother defense. Four of the Dog Catcher runs scored on a pair of home runs by Don Slipetz. However, the top of the Blues Brothers order was too much. In addition to Mason going yard, he; Chris Nyers, Kevin Boston and Dave Argue combined to go 13 for 16 with 12 runs scored.
Player of the game: Well. Dammit. Our first repeat POG winner. Kevin Boston. I can't ignore 4/4 with 3 runs scored. Heck of a start to the post season Radar!
Next up for the Blues Brothers (10) 2-0, Tap Masters (9) 1-0-1
Next up for the Dog Catchers (4), Brew Jays (3) 0-1
STANDINGS & STATS:
A couple of interesting things in doing the playoff stats. We are only 3 days in and there are only 9 players who have failed to have an at bat so far. Wow, September ball sure brings people out. Also, a whopping 108 players are hitting better than they did during the regular season. Sure its a small sample size, but holy cow; people are dialed in! Finally, of the 171 players who have suited up for games, 154 of them have scored at least a run.
Okay, you're not here to hear me gab. This is the third year of this format and its not a perfect science. What we do know is that in previous two years a 3-1 team has never failed to get an automatic berth to the quarterfinals. A 2-2 has never failed to at least make the Saturday elimination game. A 1-3 team has never advanced beyond the round robin. If this hold true we know a few thing.
First we know that the Draft Kings, Dislocated Joints and Blues Brothers are looking pretty darned good to be in at least an elimination game.
Second we know that the Rusty Rebels, Grisslies, Red Dogs and Dusty Cleats are effectively playing elimination games starting now. You might want to add the Dog Catchers to that list as a 1-2-1 hasn't gotten through before either.
24 guys batting 1.000
32 guys batting between .800 & 1.000
30 guys batting between .750 and .800
4 runs seems like a good cut off at this point
The most improved is cut of at +.300

Glad to see the "Beer" Bros help up their end on jugs. I think the "Tap Masters" need to change their names, lol. CA
Wow....don't think I've ever seen 12 people signed onto the blog at the same time...or...300 hits before 9am. September rocks!
Thanks to Derryl Gaudet and Brad Young for txt'ng scores from Keogh - to - Coventry so I could keep people informed online. There were about 150 blog hits between 8pm - 10:30 last night to people were repeatedly checking.
Anyone who can txt me the Keogh scores tonight (once every 2 innings is good) and let me know big plays or HRs would be greatly appreciated. I think I'll take in the Coventry games again. Let me know & I'll send contact info.
Jim is just checking out what is happening to his teams! We figure neither team drank enough beer this year and therefore are not really ready for the playoffs. Guess you just need him back to help out!
Wow....there is nothing "Drag Queens" about 161 jugs is there? Is there any connection with drinking the most jugs by a landslide and finishing in first place? If Babe Ruth were still with us I think he would agree.....I think he knew what it takes to win.
