This first is the Magic / Tragic number. This tells the combination of wins and losses to finish in any given position. I've only looked at it from the first four spots. Instructions are below
HOW TO READ: First off, you'll notice that the teams are not sorted in the same manner as our league standings. This is because our standings are sorted by "points" which are only an accurate on the 1st and last day of the season because those are the only times that the teams have ALL played the same number of games. So lets look at this from the perspective of Torn Ligaments.
- The Magic number (if you're in the lead) or Tragic number (if you're chasing) is a countdown of sorts.
- In the case of the Torn Ligaments, if you look at the 1st column you will see the number four (4). This means that any combination of Dusty Cleats wins and Torn Ligaments loses that add up to 4 will eliminate the Torn Ligaments from finishing in first place overall. (note this doesn't consider tie breakers...just win and loss possibilities).
- In column 2 you will see the number eight (8). This means that any combination of Wild wins and Torn Ligaments wins adding to 8 will eliminate the Torn Ligaments from finishing in second place.
- Continuing across, any combination of 9 Lucky Stiffs wins and Torn Ligaments Losses or 10 Brew Jays wins and Torn Ligaments losses will eliminate the Torn Ligaments for contention for 3rd and 4th place.
- This is driven by your team's losses. The Grisslies appear to be in 4th place according to our standings, but in reality the Grisslie's total number of losses makes them easier to eliminate than the Brew Jays, Hot Tub Woody's and Dog Catchers who all appear lower in the standings.
