BONUS BLOG: Stats through 13 weeks.

INTRO

I'm starting to rebuild the stats data, slowly.  I don't think I'll have everything back by season's end, but there is some stuff to share.  So .... we're going to take a quick look at some team numbers then individual stats with a spin (of course).  Apologies in advance for some of the crappy fonts, I do what I can.

TEAM

Okay, the 1st view is the Magic number.  There has been a little controversy over this which I think revolves around how to account for ties.  I'm 'reasonably' confident that the math is right however.  As it stands now, the magic number for the Dusty Cleats to clinch is 3.  So again, this means that any combination of Dusty Cleat's wins and Lucky Stiff's losses adding to 3 will clinch the regular season.  The Cleats, CAN NOT however clinch this week because the Stiffs play the Brew Jays.  Regardless of what the Cleats do that winner of that game (and perhaps others) will remain alive.  Interesting that before July was done, ten teams were eliminated from finishing 1st!  That's a "WOW".

Now for second place its a tad more compelling.  The Lucky Stiffs need to a combination of their wins plus losses by Hot Tub Woody's, Wild AND Brew Jays (each team individually) totaling 7 to clinch second place.  As they have 7 games left they could theoretically win second by running the table and not requiring any help.

Finally on the team side of things you can see where each team ranks in batting as you go through the team stats, but I thought I'd put it together in one easy to view place for you here.  So this first view is where all the teams rank in average on a 'year to date' (YTD) basis.

This next view resorts everyone by how their team has hit over the last 10 games.   In the first column is how they ran (1-15) in the 10 game period and the second column is how they rank overall for the year.

This final view show how each team ranks over the last 5 games.   Again, the first column is their 5 game rank, the second column their 10 game rank and the third column is the year to date.

Congrats to the Grisslies for doing the nearly impossible and being in last place no matter how we carve up the stats!

And finally, here are the standings in a more traditional baseball view of Games Behind Leader (GBL).  This presentation doesn't really change much from our regular standings (Red Dogs move up one spot) but it does give you an immediate view of what you have to do to catch someone or be caught without figuring games in hand etc.

INDIVIDUAL

Okay...everyone can see how their own individual stats look, but I'm going to look at them in terms of On base average, Times on base and At Bats over the course of the entire year, the last 10 games and the last 5 games.  Hopefully if you've been telling people that 'your bat is on fire' for a while, this will help you substantiate that.
