Prediction Final

Season Start Date

Barring an act of a merciless god, there will be ball at Keogh Park tonight.  Just the 7pm game however.
.
Our Final Picks

Not playing ball sucks.

However, it does give us a chance for a final look at the predictions.

Your "panel of experts"  were Scott Peters, Kevin Boston, Geoff Keogh, Mark Doyle and Doug Dwyer.  And what makes us experts?  Nothing, that part is kind of a joke, but we've been doing this a while and the predictions do work out pretty well.  5 of 6 usually wins.

Here are our picks.

A few points:
  • There seems to be some love for our new teams the Sliders and Sons Of Pitches.  Maybe our experts finally wised up.  Rookie teams seem to have a penchant for big seasons.  The Hurtin' Units, Brew Jays and Draft Kings all were top 3 in their first campaigns.  And the Gruesome Devils and Tap Masters have been strong from the hop too.
  • The Grisslies were the only team picked by all 5 people.  That worries me more than a little.
  • The Draft Kings and Sliders were picked 4 times.
  • The Blues Brothers, Beer Bros. and Brew Jays were picked 3 times.
  • The Dodge City Rounders, Tap Masters and Rusty Rebels were picked 2 times.
  • The Hot Tub Woody's and Sons Of Pitches were picked once.
  • Teams that didn't get picked are the Dog Catchers, Dusty Cleats, Gruesome Devils and Hurtin' Units.
  • Last year our fab-5 predictors had no votes for the Dusty Cleats, Red Dogs and Grisslies.  They finished 12th, 14th and 15th respectively with a combined record of 19-50-3.  At least the Cleats were within a game of the .500 mark and the Red Dogs made it to the semi-finals.
How The League Voted.

So the simple math shows the Grisslies, Brew Jays, Rusty Rebels, Tap Masters, Draft Kings and Sons Of Pitches as the top six.  Interesting that the league's view of the bottom 4 is the same as the panels.

Now here is the risk with this stupid prediction stuff.  At least one of these teams is going to use this to kick ass and take names.  Ask the Tap Masters, who rode their supposed "dis" from me last year right to the finals!

Good luck to all, have a fun and healthy season!!!  We'll check back at years end to see how the predictors fared.
