The Sprint To The Finish!!!

READ CAREFULLY!

UPDATE Saturday August 23rd.

Ya, I keep saying I'm not doing anymore updates....well my phone keeps going off with scores and possibilities (which I appreciate by the way) and my brain spins!  I don't have all the head to head and stats stuff in front of me so much is by memory.

Dodge City Rounders - Win and in baby!  Last game against the Tap Masters for all the marbles. A loss and they'll either be 2nd or 3rd.

Tap Masters - A win against Dodge is 1st place!  Yes, the Dog Catchers can tie them but I'm pretty sure that the TM's own the tie breaker.  A loss?  The Dog Catchers could pass them and drop them to 3rd.  The Grisslies could tie them (but hold the tie breaker) and push them to fourth.

Dog Catchers - Best case scenario with winning their last two games would put them in a tie for 1st with the Tap Masters but finish 2nd due to the tie breaker.  They cold still finish as low as 8, but hold many tie breakers against teams other than the Tap Masters that would push them up.

Draft Kings - Fantastic 2nd half!  Last game is against the Woody's, a win would get them 28 points. The Draft Kings need to avoid ties as they currently tie breakers to the Grisslies and Tap Masters.  The Woody's tie breaker is still in play and will be decided by this game.  Can't finish 1st or 2nd and can only finish 3rd if they beat the Woody's, the Dog Catchers lose their final two and the Grisslies lose their last game.

Grisslies - a win in their final game against the Dusty Cleats should result in the league's best second half 8-1-2.  2nd place is only possible on ridiculous +/- math so we'll ignore that.  A 2nd place tie with the Tap Masters and Draft Kings would give the Grisslies 3rd and DK's 4th.  Grisslies would be in 4th if there was a 2nd place tie the Tap Masters, Grisslies and Dog Catchers.  Should the Tap Masters, Draft Kings,  Dog Catchers and Grisslies ALL tie for 2nd, the Grisslies would likely fall to 5th.  If the Woody's were to climb into this mix, they would have to displace the Draft Kings or the Dog Catchers who they still have to play and it wouldn't change the Grisslies plight (likely)

Hot Tub Woody's - With 3 games left, there's still too many possibilities to detail.  However their top en is 28 points which is a tie for 2nd potentially and a 3rd place finish if the only other team there are the Tap Masters.  It would seem 3rd is the best possible finish for the Woody's if they win out.  Also with 2 contenders (Draft Kings and Dog Catchers) still on their dance card there are too many tie breaker scenarios to contend with. Believe it or not....they could still finish around 11th if everything went to hell in a hand basket.

Sons Of Pitches - One game left and can't change their situation too much.  They could finish anywhere from 6th to about 11th.

Rusty Rebels - Were having a great 2nd half then stubbed their toes. With two games left they can still move into the 26pt crowd. They could potentially move up as high as fourth but could still find themselves 10th.

Sliders - The last team that could make a significant change are the Sliders who just might be on the rebound.  With three games left this club sitting a game under .500 could find themselves in on of the lofty top 6 positions!

Anyway....remember this isn't gospel, just a little 'off the top of my head' stuff. Monday won't do much to help us.  It will tell us if the Rebels are still in the mix.  And it will possibly determine the beer cup if the Sons Of Pitches can win their season finale!

Have fun....I'm going to Downtown Disney!

UPDATE Thursday August 21st.

This is it for me until next Tuesday...no BLOG updates until next Wednesday.  And on top of that, I'm turning the data off on my phone.  No email.  No Blackberry PIN messages.  No Facebook.  Its as 'off the grid' as I can be.  I'll still be receiving txt messages so if anyone feels compelled to send me scores I'll likely read them.  Okay, I'll FOR SURE read them!

There are 15 games left.  By the time I'm back there will only be 10 remaining.  And lots of interesting things could happen!

THURSDAY

Draft Kings Vs. Dodge City Rounders - A Draft Kings win would keep them alive for 2nd overall and would ensure a top 7 finish.  A win by the Rounders would wrap up 1st place.

Hurtin' Units Vs. Grisslies - The Hurtin' Units will remain unchanged win or lose.  A Grisslies win would keep alive the hopes for 2nd place and ensure a top 6 finish.

Dusty Cleats Vs. Tap Masters - The Cleats could still move up a couple of spots from 14th, but they're building on recent successes and are trying to be in the right place come playoffs.  The Tap Masters need help from the Draft Kings to stay alive for 1st then need to take care of their own business against the Cleats to stay in the game.  A win here ensures no worse than 5th.

MONDAY

Hurtin' Units Vs. Rusty Rebels - The Units will close out their regular season with this game.  A win by the Rebels keeps them very much in the mix for a top 6 position which has been a playoff advantage over the years.

Sons Of Pitches Vs. Sliders - Oh this is an intresting one!  First off its a beer cup game.  If the SoP's win this game, they close the season as Beer Cup champs!  Very cool.  Should the Sliders win they would need to defend then against the Rebels (who could finish as champs) and then play a winner take all game with the Brew Jays due to the rainouts on Wednesday night.  As for the standings, the Sons still have an outside shot at top 6 but need help.  The Sliders are just a little shy of top 6 but still have 3 games left and could finish strong in the middle of the pack.

Well folks....a few things to communicate here.
  1. This will be the only BLOG of the week
  2. I'm going on vacation Wednesday!
  3. The league standings will be updated online between Friday and Sunday.
  4. There will be NO STATS BLOG this weekend!
I'm due fellas and the significantly better half has been infinitely patient with the ridiculous schedule that I impose on myself, so it break time.

The scores in the side panel on your right will be updated as the week goes along, at least until Wednesday.  I don't usually update Thursday's scores here because I'm already right onto the stats BLOG.  But this week it'll be because I'm gone.  But you find Thursday's completed schedule and scores on the league website (www.tottenhamoldtimers.ca)

Now coupled with the game scores are the OCD standings found in the tab on the top of this page.  That will be updated Monday for sure.  Tuesday for sure.  Wednesday.....maybe.  Thursday, no way.

So because of that, let me give you some scenarios for each team.

Beer Bros.  -  They Play the Sons Of Pitches and Blues Brothers.  If they win both they can finish has high as 4th.  Splitting would but them in a log jam with 6 other teams where tie breakers could put them as high as fifth and as low as 11th.  Dropping both games would see a best case scenario finish of 10th place.

Sons Of Pitches - They will play the Beer Bros. and Brew Jays.  Like the Beer Bros. a sweep of their week could still have them gunning for 4th while a split puts them in the 5 to 11 traffic jam. Of course two losses looks like 10th at best for them.

Dusty Cleats - Two games this week and they aren't easy.  The Draft Kings and the Tap Masters.  Should the Cleats sweep these teams they could potentially vault into 12 and still have a shot at 11th.  A split would mean potentially 13th place but no lower than 14th while two losses would be 14th for sure.

Draft Kings - The two games for the Draft Kings are against the Dusty Cleats and Dodge City Rounders.  Sweeping these games could possibly see them stay alive for 1st place and see them finish no lower than 7th place.  Should the Kings split their best possible finish will be 4th while they could slip as slow as 10th.  Getting swept would mean the best they could finish would be 5th and the lowest they could end up would be 12th.

Blues Brothers - Should the Blues Brothers sweep their two games they may still have the opportunity for a top 3 finish.  A split would give them the maximum potential of achieving 4th place .  A loss in both games would put them in a 22 point mess that could go from 5th till 11th.

Sliders - Another 'middle' team with lots of room to swing.  Sweeping their two games would get them back to the .500 mark and potentially still have an opportunity to finish 4th.  A split for them puts them in 5th to 11th mix and dropping two would make finishing 10th a best case scenario.

Brew Jays - The Brew Jays are trying to catch the Gruesome Devils and hold off the Dusty Cleats.  Them sweeping this week will take care of the Cleats and ensure they can't be caught.  Depending on other results they could be as high as 11th AND avoid a 12 loss season.  A split would keep them in a 12th to 14th mix while dropping two would likely mean 13th or 14th

Gruesome Devils - The Devils play a double header this week.  If they were to sweep it they could potentially still make it to 7th place.  A split relegates them to a best finishing spot of 9th and dropping both games would see 11th place as their best showing.

Rusty Rebels - The Gruesome Devils double header opponent could still finish as high as 2nd with a sweep and as low as 12th!  A split would still potentially give them a top 3 finish and a bottom end remaining at 12th.  Losing both games would make their best possible finish 7th place and their worst possible finish 13th.

Dodge City Rounders - They'll have to take 1st place going through the front door.  They have the Grisslies and Draft Kings this week.  They beat the Kings by 4 and lost to the Grisslies by 3 earlier.  Expect these games to be good.  Winning both will wrap up 1st place.  Splitting could potentially setup a final game for all the marbles with the Tap Masters but would ensure Dodge no worse than second place.  Losing both could keep six teams in the mix for 1st place and potentially see the Rounder finish from 1st to 5th.

Grisslies - In the Grisslies two games they have the Rounder and the Units.  Sweeping will keep them alive for 1st place and ensure a finish no worse than 7th.  A split could possibly keep them in the hunt for 2nd but also see them as low as 8th.  Dropping both would see them finishing no higher than 4th and as low as 12th!

Hot Tub Woody's - The Woody's only game this week is against the Dog Catchers.  Should they win that game they could remain in the hunt for 2nd place but could still potentially fall as far as 12th.  With a loss, their best finish would be 4th and worst would remain at 12th.

Dog Catchers - The Hot Tub Woody's opponents also only have a single game this week and a win could keep them in the hunt for 1st place with a guarantee of finishing no lower that 5th.  Losing this game may keep them alive for 1st but could see them fall as far as 7th.

Hurtin' Units - The Units will play one game and finish 15th regardless of the outcome.

Tap Masters - The Tap Masters one game is against the Dusty Cleats.  Should they win they could remain in the game for 1st place and will be guaranteed a finish no lower than 4th.  With a loss, there is a chance to still be alive for 1st, but could potentially fall as low as 8th.
